Arabic vocabulary
How to say “six” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِذَا بِهِ يَحْتَوِي عَلَى سِتَّةِ آلاَفٍ مُجَلَّدٍ،
Then it contained six thousand volumes.
سِتَّةِ — six. A number word heading a counted phrase and itself in the genitive because of the preceding 'on'. It binds to the noun after it in an 'of' pairing, 'six of thousands', which is why that noun takes the genitive too. The number leads the count.
