Arabic vocabulary
How to say “so God forbid” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
أَمَّا أَنْ يَصُدَّهُمْ عَنْ الْفَرَائِضِ الْخَمْسِ ؛ فَحَاشَا لِلَّهِ ،
As for turning them away from the five obligatory prayers, God forbid.
فَحَاشَا — so God forbid. Two pieces: the connector fa- delivering the verdict 'so', and a fixed exclamation of disavowal, the classical 'far be it / God forbid'. The fa- presents this as the answer to the 'as for' raised earlier, and the exclamation flatly rejects the idea.
