How to say “stayer” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لقد دخلا غارا لَا يسكنهُ لابث
Indeed, they entered a cave where no one had stayed.
لَابِثٌ — anyone. This is a doer-noun built from 'to tarry', 'one who stays'. It is the subject of the verb, and Arabic's habit of putting the verb first means the subject arrives after it, wearing the '-un' subject ending; with the negation it yields 'no stayer dwells there'.
