How to say “sweep” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
مَحَّاهَا مَجَالُ الرِّيحِ بَعْدِهِمْ وَالْقَبْرُ
The sweep of the wind wiped it away after them, and the grave.
مَجَالُ — the sweep. A noun naming a sweeping motion, the subject of 'wiped' though placed after its verb. It heads a possessive pairing with the next word, so it reads 'the sweep of...'. As the doer of the erasing, it sets up what force scrubbed the homes away.
