Arabic vocabulary
How to say “wind” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
مَحَّاهَا مَجَالُ الرِّيحِ بَعْدِهِمْ وَالْقَبْرُ
The sweep of the wind wiped it away after them, and the grave.
الرِّيحِ — of the wind. A definite noun carrying 'the', the owned half of 'the sweep of the wind'. That owner role puts it in the 'of...' ending and lends definiteness up to 'sweep'. So the wind is named as the agent whose sweeping erased the dwellings.
