Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the coming” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
نَزَلَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ نُزُولَ الضَّيْفِ عَلَى أَقْوَامٍ لِئَامٍ،
A visitation came upon them, the arrival of the guest among mean-spirited people.
نُزُولَ — the coming. This is an action-noun (it names the very act of 'coming/arriving' as a thing) and it heads a possessive pair, 'the arrival OF the guest'. Set right after the verb, it works like an emphatic echo of it, a device where Arabic restates the action as a noun to intensify it.
