Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the following” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَرَجَعَ فَتَوَفَّى فِي السَّنَةِ الدَّاخِلَةِ
He returned and then died the following year.
الدَّاخِلَةِ — the following. An adjective 'the incoming/following' that agrees with 'the year' in gender, definiteness, and case, all three matching marks. Arabic adjectives copy these features from their noun, so the shared 'the' and genitive ending tie it firmly to 'the year'.
