Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the man” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
كَمَا قَدْ يُحِبُّ الرَّجُلُ وَلَدَهُ وَصَدِيقَهُ
Just as a man may love his son and his friend.
الرَّجُلُ — the man. The al- makes this 'the man' as a representative type, and its nominative ending marks it as the doer of the verb. Coming after the verb, it is the delayed subject, a normal Arabic order where the verb leads and its agent follows.
