Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the prohibitions” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَفِيهِمْ مَنْ يُبَارِزُ بِالذُّنُوبِ الْعَظِيمَةِ، مَعَ نَوْعِ مَعْرِفَةِ الْمَنَاهِيِ
Among them are those who brazenly commit grave sins while having only a limited knowledge of the prohibitions.
الْمَنَاهِيِ — the prohibitions. A definite plural closing the 'of' chain, 'knowledge of the prohibitions', so it takes the 'of'-style ending as the thing known. It is the final owner in the stacked possessive run and names what the limited knowledge is about, the forbidden acts these people only dimly grasp.
