Arabic vocabulary
How to say “the sermon” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لَهُ الْسَّكَّةُ وَالْخُطْبَةُ وَمَا لَهُ حُكْمٌ نَافِذٌ وَلَا سُلْطَانٌ،
He has the mint and the sermon, but he has no binding ruling or authority.
وَالْخُطْبَةُ — and the sermon. The wa- coordinates this with the previous noun, so 'the mint and the sermon' form a matched pair, both possessed in the same 'he has' frame. The single prefixed 'and' links them as the two trappings of office he is allowed.
