الظَّنِّ — the thought. A definite noun, 'the thought / supposition', completing the 'most false of X' phrase, genitive as the thing the top-degree adjective ranks among. The pairing means 'the falsest of all suppositions'. It names exactly what kind of thing his misjudgement was.
