فَكَانَ إِلَى الْقَرِيَةِ الصَّالِحَةِ أَقْرَبَ بِشِبْرٍ فَجُعِلَ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا
So he was an inch closer to the righteous village and was made one of its people.
الْقَرِيَةِ — the village. This noun carries the definite 'al-' prefix and sits in the genitive as the object of the preceding 'toward'. It names the village in question and is the noun that the following adjective will agree with.
