How to say “the virtues” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
جَمَالُ الدِّينِ أَبُو الْفَضَائِلِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَوْزِيِّ
Jamal al-Din Abu al-Fada'il, son of Ali al-Jawzi.
الْفَضَائِلِ — the virtues. A definite plural noun 'the virtues', the owning term completing the 'father of...' name, hence the genitive. Together they form the honorific teknonym 'father of the virtues'. The pairing yields a fixed name-element, not a literal fatherhood.
