Arabic vocabulary
How to say “they asked permission” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَأَتَيْتُهُمْ فَدَعَوْتُهُمْ فَأَقْبَلُوا، فَاسْتَأْذَنُوا فَأَذِنَ لَهُمْ،
So I came to them and called to them; they came forward, asked permission, and he granted it to them.
فَاسْتَأْذَنُوا — so they asked permission. Begins with 'so/then'; a past verb in the added-letter 'ask for X' pattern, here 'asked permission', with the plural 'they' ending. The pattern builds 'request' from a simpler root. The connector ties it to their coming forward.
