ثُمَّ قَامَ الْقَوْمُ فَضَرَبُوهُ حَتَّى أَضْجَعُوهُ،
Then the people stood up and beat him until they knocked him down.
أَضْجَعُوهُ — they knocked him down. A plural past verb with 'them' as doer carried in its -u ending and -hu 'him' attached as its object. Sitting after 'until', it names the endpoint of the assault: the moment they had him on the ground.
