Arabic vocabulary
How to say “they would be replaced” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَحَلَفَ أَنْ يَتَحَوَّلَ عَنْهُمْ وَيُسْتَبْدَلُوا بِدَارِهِ
So he swore that he would turn away from them and that they would be replaced in his household.
وَيَسْتَبْدِلُوا — and they would be replaced. A coordinating wa- on a verb still under the 'to' particle, so it too sits in the subjunctive; the plural marks the people. The action is read as a happening-to (passive sense), the sworn second outcome for them.
