How to say “to contradict” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَلَنَاقَضَ ذَلِكَ إِضَافَتَهُ إِلَى رَسُولِهِ الْمَلَكِيِّ فِي سُورَةِ التَّكْوِيرِ
And that would contradict its attribution to His angelic messenger in Surah At-Takwir.
وَلَنَاقَضَ — and that would contradict. This joins 'and' to an emphatic la- plus a past verb, a combination that delivers the unreal result of an earlier 'if'. The la- prefix is the answer-marker that ties this consequence back to the supposition; the verb's past shape, in this unreal frame, means 'would have contradicted', not a real past event.
