How to say “told us” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ النَّضْرُ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ،
An-Nadr said: Shu'bah told us.
أَخْبَرَنَا — told us. A past-tense verb of informing, 'told', with a built-in 'he' subject and an 'us' ending fused on. The suffix marks the transmitters as the ones told, the verb-plus-suffix covering 'told us' in the chain.
From: Paradise for the Sincere →قَالُوا أَعْلَمُنَا وَابْنُ أَعْلَمِنَا وَأَخْبَرَنَا وَابْنُ أَخْبَرِنَا
They said, "He was more learned than we are, and the son of someone more learned than we are, and he informed us, and the son of the one who informed us."
أَخْبَرَنَا — the one who informed us. A past verb 'informed us' standing as the owned-half under 'son': the son of the one who informed us. With its attached 'us' it forms a unit that 'son' possesses, so the verb-phrase fills an owner-slot here.
