Arabic vocabulary
How to say “treasure” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فأعجب والديه فأنفقا عليه كل مكنوز،
He amazed his parents, so they spent on him all their treasures.
مَكْنُوزٍ — their treasures. The owned half of 'all of what is hoarded', a passive-participle noun in the genitive because it completes the 'all of' pairing. Its indefinite shape presents the hoarded wealth in general, so the line means they spent every bit of their treasure on him.
