فَمَا أَصَابَك بلَاء قطّ إِلَّا مِنْهَا
No trial ever befell you except from it.
بَلَاءٌ — trial. The subject of 'befell', indefinite nominative (the tanwin), placed after its verb — 'an affliction'. Indefinite under the negation: no affliction at all.

البَلَاءِ — tribulation. The occasion named after 'at', 'tribulation', carrying the genitive ending the time-word requires. Its 'the' marks it as the definite hardship in view.
