How to say “turned toward” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَإِنْ إِلْتَفَتَ إِلَيْهِ أَطْمَعَهُ فِي نَفْسِهِ،
If he turned to it, it made him covet his self.
إِلْتَفَتَ — turned toward. A derived (form VIII) completed-action verb 'he turned (his attention)', with its 'he' subject inside, serving as the condition's verb after 'if'. Although built on the past pattern, in a conditional it reads as a general 'whenever/if he turns'. Its target is given by the preposition next.
