How to say “two states of familiarity/intimacy” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فقضى لهم حياة وقضى عليهم مماتا،
So He decreed for them life, and He decreed upon them death.
الإلفين — the two intimacies. A dual noun, 'the two intimates', with 'two' folded into its ending. The dual is Arabic's dedicated 'exactly two' form, supplying what English says with a separate word; it gives the pair that 'between' separates.
