Arabic vocabulary
How to say “vicinity” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لَأَسْكُنُكَ فِي جِوَارِهِ لِتُطِيعَنِي وَتَعْصِيهِ
I will settle you in his vicinity so that you obey me and disobey him.
جِوَارِهِ — his vicinity. A noun ('vicinity / nearness') with '-hi' ('his') fused on, so it means 'his vicinity'. The '-hi' tracks back to God himself, so the promise is to settle the listener near God, in the genitive under the preceding 'in'.
