How to say “disobey” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
إِنِّي أُحَذِّرُكِ أَنْ تَعْصِيَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ
I warn you not to disobey Allah and His Messenger.
تَعْصِيَ — you disobey. A present verb 'you disobey' in its goal-shape ending because the 'that' particle precedes it; the ending is the sign the disobeying is the warned-against possibility, not a fact. The singular 'you' subject is built in.
From: Umar and the Prophet's Wives →لَأَسْكُنُكَ فِي جِوَارِهِ لِتُطِيعَنِي وَتَعْصِيهِ
I will settle you in his vicinity so that you obey me and disobey him.
وَتَعْصِيهِ — and you disobey him. The 'wa-' couples this onto the purpose clause as a parallel aim ('and that you disobey'), so the verb carries over the subjunctive aim-sense from the earlier 'so that'. The '-hi' ('him') fused on is the object, pointing to the devil.
