Arabic vocabulary
How to say “wait” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
مهلا فَأن ذمّ الروافض قد فار
Wait, for indeed the rage of the dissenters has boiled over.
مَهْلًا — wait. This is a bare noun in the accusative pressed into service as a command, 'easy now / hold on'. Arabic can fire off such one-word orders by putting a noun in the object case, with the verb 'act/go' left understood.
