تُرِيدُ — you want. 'you want / wish,' present. It takes a 'to'-clause next (an + verb) — 'you want TO end up'. Together: you know where you want to arrive. Knowing that, choosing the path is simple.

تُرِيدُ — you want. A present-tense verb meaning 'you want', with 'you' built in. The doer is encoded in the verb; what is wanted is spelled out in the clause that follows.
