لِأَنِّي أَشَافَهُ فِي عُمْرِي عَدَدًا مِنَ الْمُتَعَلِّمِينَ،
Because I taught it orally to a number of students during my life,
عددًا — a number. An indefinite noun used as a counted amount, 'a number', and its object-style ending fits its role; it pairs with the partitive word after it to mean 'a number of...'. The indefinite ending marks it as 'some unspecified quantity'.
