How to say “the students” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لِأَنِّي أَشَافَهُ فِي عُمْرِي عَدَدًا مِنَ الْمُتَعَلِّمِينَ،
Because I taught it orally to a number of students during my life,
الْمُتَعَلِّمِينَ — the students. A definite plural in the after-preposition case, governed by the partitive word before it. Its ending is set by that preposition; as the group the 'number' is taken from, it completes the 'a number of the students' phrase.
