How to say “a pledge” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ إِنْ أَعْطَيْتَنِي عَهْدًا وَمِيثَاقًا لَتُرْشِدَنَّنِي
He said, "If you give me a pledge and a covenant, you will surely guide me."
عَهْدًا — a pledge. A noun standing bare without 'the' to mean 'a pledge', in the object case as the thing given. Its indefiniteness, carried by its own ending, marks it as one such pledge.
