Arabic vocabulary
How to say “ascend” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فأنا أصعد وهم ينزلون إلى الدرك،
So I rise while they descend into depths.
أَصْعَدُ — I rise. This is a present-tense verb with the doer 'I' built into its prefix, so no separate word for 'I' is needed. Arabic uses this present form for action seen as ongoing or characteristic, which is what frames the rising as a continuing contrast against the others' falling.
