How to say “ascent” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.

And did not know that the diver's descent into the depth in pursuit of the pearl is an ascent.
صُعُودٌ — ascent. suud means 'rising, ascent'; the '-un' ending marks it indefinite — the predicate ('…is an ascent').
From: Adam's Descent →بينا هي في صعود الزيادة إذا صاحبها إلى القبر في انحدار،
While it is in the ascent of increase, suddenly its owner heads to the grave in decline,
صُعُودِ — the ascent. In the genitive because 'in' governs it, this noun also heads a possessive pairing, 'the ascent of increase', so it stays bare of 'the' and draws definiteness from the owner that follows. It names the rising motion that the next word will specify.
