Arabic vocabulary
How to say “ask” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فَلَمْ يَسْأَلْ وَاحِدٌ مِنْهُمَا صَاحِبَهُ عَنْ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ،
Then neither of them asked his companion about anything until morning.
يَسْأَلْ — ask. The verb sits in its shortened jussive shape, and the trigger is the negating particle just before it. That particle flips a present-looking verb into a plain past negation and trims its ending, which is how 'did not ask' is built.
