How to say “ask” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
لَبِثْتُ سَنَةً وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَ عُمَرَ
I waited for a year, wanting to ask Umar.
أَسْأَلَ — I ask. A present verb 'I ask' in its goal-shape ending because the 'to' particle sits just before it; that ending is the audible sign the asking is the aim, not a fact. The 'I' subject is carried inside it.
