How to say “barefoot” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ أَنْ تَلِدَ الْأَمَةُ رَبَّتَهَا، وَأَنْ تَرَى الْحُفَاةَ الْعُرَاةَ الْعَالَةَ رِعَاءَ الشَّاءِ يَتَطَاوَلُونَ فِي الْبُنْيَانِ
He said, 'That a slave woman will give birth to her mistress, and that you will see barefoot, unclothed, destitute shepherds competing in erecting tall buildings.'
الْحُفَاةَ — barefoot. The first object of 'you see', a noun with al- ('the') in the accusative as the thing observed. It opens a stacked string of descriptions of the same people. The accusative ending marks it, and the matching ones to follow, as what is seen.
