How to say “building” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ أَنْ تَلِدَ الْأَمَةُ رَبَّتَهَا، وَأَنْ تَرَى الْحُفَاةَ الْعُرَاةَ الْعَالَةَ رِعَاءَ الشَّاءِ يَتَطَاوَلُونَ فِي الْبُنْيَانِ
He said, 'That a slave woman will give birth to her mistress, and that you will see barefoot, unclothed, destitute shepherds competing in erecting tall buildings.'
الْبُنْيَانِ — erecting tall buildings. The noun governed by 'in', bearing al- ('the') and in the (genitive) ending the preposition requires. It names the arena of the competition, construction. Definite and case-marked, it closes the picture of them outdoing one another in raising buildings.
