Arabic vocabulary
How to say “unclothed” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
قَالَ أَنْ تَلِدَ الْأَمَةُ رَبَّتَهَا، وَأَنْ تَرَى الْحُفَاةَ الْعُرَاةَ الْعَالَةَ رِعَاءَ الشَّاءِ يَتَطَاوَلُونَ فِي الْبُنْيَانِ
He said, 'That a slave woman will give birth to her mistress, and that you will see barefoot, unclothed, destitute shepherds competing in erecting tall buildings.'
الْعُرَاةَ — unclothed. A further description of the same people, again with al- ('the') and in the matching accusative. Arabic stacks these traits side by side as parallel objects of 'you see', with no 'and' needed between them. Its case agrees with the noun it piles onto.
