Arabic vocabulary
How to say “believe it” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
وَإِذَا بُلِغَتْكَ أَنَّ أَحْمَقَ اِسْتَفَادَ عُقُولًا فَلا تُصَدِّقْ
And if it is conveyed to you that a fool has gained sense, then do not believe it.
تُصَدِّقْ — believe it. This verb is a 'you' present-tense form pushed into a clipped (jussive) ending by the negator just before it, which together make a 'do not ...' command rather than a plain present. The clipped ending is the visible sign of that governing particle. It directs the listener not to accept the report.
From: On Foolishness and Wisdom →ثَلاثٌ، صَدِّقْ بِاِثْنَتَيْنِ وَلا تُصَدِّقْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ،
Three: believe two and do not believe one.
تُصَدِّقْ — believe. A 'you' present-tense verb made into a 'do not ...' command by the negator just before it, which clips its ending into the prohibition shape. The shortened ending is the trace of that governing particle. It directs the listener to withhold belief.
