Arabic vocabulary
How to say “best” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَهَذَا أَجْوَدُ أَحْوَالُهُ وَلَا جُودَةٍ فِيهَا أَوْ بِمَكَانٍ
And this is his best state, and there is no goodness in it or in any place.
أَجْوَدُ — best. A superlative-shaped adjective on the 'most X' pattern, here 'best', heading a possessive chain with the next word, 'best of his states'. Arabic uses this same form for both 'more' and 'most'; with a following 'of' phrase it reads as the top of the set.
