How to say “bless” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
سَمِعْت رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه و سلم يَقُولُ
I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say:
صَلَّى — blessings be upon. This opens the blessing said after the Prophet's name; like the earlier 'may He be pleased,' it is a past-form verb used as a prayer. Its doer 'Allah' follows, and the whole fixed phrase means 'may God send blessings upon him'.
