How to say “blinded” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
فأحكمت الشقة حَتَّى عمي على الْقَائِف الْمطلب
So the web sealed the crack until it blinded the tracker from the search.
عَمِيَ — it blinded. A past-tense verb 'became blind / was hidden from', its subject coming next, weak final root — here 'the search was lost to'. It pictures the trail going dark.
From: The Night of the Migration →وَكَانَ شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا قَدْ عَمِيَ
He was an old man who had become blind.
عَمِيَ — became blind. A past-tense verb already carrying its subject inside it: the 'he' is baked into the form, so no separate pronoun is needed. It rounds off the qad clause, the completed-state idea begun by qad landing on this verb to give 'had gone blind'.
