How to say “competed” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
زاحمت كبار العلماء قالوا تاالله لقد آثرك،
I competed with the great scholars, and they said, 'By Allah, you have been chosen!'
زَاحَمْتُ — I competed. A past-tense verb with 'I' built into its -tu ending, so the doer needs no separate word. It is one of those verbs whose form already implies a partner, giving the sense of competing 'with' someone, which is why no preposition for 'with' is needed before the object.
