Arabic vocabulary
How to say “complete” in Arabic, with pronunciation and real example sentences from OpenArabic texts.
الذِّكرُ في الإسلامِ ليسَ أصواتًا فارغة، بل معانٍ مكتملة تُنطَق في جُملٍ تامَّة تُغذّي العقلَ والقلب
Remembrance in Islam is not empty sounds, but complete meanings articulated in complete sentences that nourish the mind and heart.
تَامَّةٍ — complete. 'complete', adjective agreeing with 'sentences' in number, gender and genitive case. The agreement is what ties 'complete' to 'sentences' rather than to anything else.
From: Words That Nourish the Heart →هكذا تشهدُ لغةُ العرب؛ فلا يُحكى بالقولِ إلا كلامٌ تام
Thus, the language of the Arabs testifies; only complete speech is spoken.
تَامٌّ — complete. 'complete', adjective on 'speech', matching it as nominative and indefinite. The whole point rides on this word: only WHOLE speech qualifies.
From: Words That Nourish the Heart →فَجَمِيع مَا شَرعه الله من الذّكر إِنَّمَا هُوَ كَلَام تَامّ لَا اسْم مُفْرد وَلَا مظهر وَلَا مُضْمر
For everything that Allah has prescribed as remembrance is complete speech, not a single word nor an explicit or implicit noun.
تَامٌّ — complete. 'complete', adjective on 'speech', agreeing as indefinite nominative. The whole thesis sits here: prescribed dhikr is COMPLETE speech, a full clause.
