فَيُلْقِي نَفْسَهُ فِي الْمَهَالِكِ لِنَيْلِ مَا يَقْتَضِيهِ تَعَوُّدُهُ

تَعَوُّدُهُ — his habit. The subject of 'demands', placed after the verb: 'habituation' with 'his' attached. Nominative. The doubled middle consonant marks the 'getting used to' noun pattern.
