Arabic vocabulary
How to say “daughter” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأُمًّا ابْنَتُهُ رَابِعَةُ فَتَزَوَّجَتْ مِنْ ابْنِ رَشِيدِ الطَبَرِيِّ،
As for his daughter Rabaa, she married the son of Rashid al-Tabari.
ابْنَتُهُ — his daughter. A noun with an attached 'his' on its end, so the possessor is built in and the word alone means 'his daughter'. It is the person the 'as for' frame is spotlighting, with the owner pointing back to the father of the family. The name that follows then identifies her.
