قال ابن عباس
Ibn Abbas said:
اِبْنُ — son of. A noun 'son' made definite by being the owner-hinge of a name-pairing 'son of Abbas', standing as the post-verbal subject of 'said', hence the subject ending. It heads a possessive pairing with the name after it.

As for his daughter Rabaa, she married the son of Rashid al-Tabari.
ابْنِ — son of. This 'son of' word is the head of an ownership pair with the name after it and sits in the 'of' (genitive) form because the preposition before it governs it. As pair-leader it drops its own 'the' and takes definiteness from the following name. It builds a patronymic identifying the husband.
