How to say “defect” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
تمرق مارقة على خير فرقة من الْمُسلمين يقتلهُمْ أدنى الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ
A group will defect from the best faction of the Muslims, and the closer of the two parties will kill them.
تَمْرُقُ — will defect. This is a present-tense verb with a built-in 'she/it' subject, here predicting a future event, 'a group will break away'. The present shape covers the future in Arabic, and its feminine subject is named next.
