From: Sincerity and Hypocrisy →أَدْنَى إِلَى الْأَرْضِ الَّتِي أَرَادَ،
nearer to the ground that he intended,
أَدْنَى — nearer. This is a comparative describing word ('nearer'), formed on Arabic's standard 'more X' pattern. It restates the outcome of the measuring and behaves as a predicate, taking the accusative form because the earlier 'found/was' framing governs it.
From: The Joy of Repentance →وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَصْبِرُ بِأَدْنَى حَمْلٍ عَلَى النَّفْسِ
And among them are those who endure even the slightest burden upon the self.
بِأَدْنَى — with the slightest. The preposition 'bi-' (with) fused onto a superlative-style adjective 'the very least', which 'bi-' puts in the genitive. The phrase marks the small measure at which they manage to bear up.
