How to say “delay” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
ولا تؤخر عمل اليوم إلى الغد، فلعل الغد لا يأتيك
And do not delay today's work until tomorrow, for perhaps tomorrow will not come to you.
تُؤَخِّرْ — you delay. A present-tense verb pushed into the clipped command-negation shape by the forbidding particle before it. That particle is the trigger that shortens the ending; the 'you' subject stays inside the verb, and together they mean 'do not delay'.
