Arabic vocabulary
How to say “desiring” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
فإذا رأيت الواعظ راغبا في الدنيا قليل الدين،
If you see the preacher desiring worldly life and lacking religious commitment,
رَاغِبًا — desiring. This word is in the accusative not as an object but to describe the state the preacher is in when seen — 'while desiring'. Arabic uses this 'circumstance' accusative to pin an action's surrounding condition. It is an active participle, naming the one in the act of wanting.
