Arabic vocabulary
How to say “doves” in Arabic, with pronunciation and an example from OpenArabic texts.
وَأرْسل حَمَامَتَيْنِ فاتخذتا هُنَاكَ عشا جعل على أبصار الطالبين غشاوة
And He sent two doves that made a nest there, creating a veil over the seekers' eyes.
حَمَامَتَيْنِ — two doves. The object of 'sent', a dual (the '-ayn' ending) — 'exactly two doves', accusative. The dual folds 'two' into the noun's shape; English must add the word 'two'.
